[ARCHIVED] Cocaine seller heads back to prison for 20 years

This is Adrian Stubbs

KEY WEST, January 15, 2020 – A Big Pine Key man is heading back to state prison after admitting to numerous instances of violating probation imposed in a drug case.

Adrian Stubbs, 41, was sentenced January 9 by Monroe County Circuit Court Judge Mark Jones to 20 months in custody after Stubbs admitted to violating probation imposed for sale of cocaine and unlawful use of a two-way communications device. Assistant State Attorney Christine Poist represented the state.

The drug case goes back to November 3, 2015, when detectives with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration set up a controlled and recorded narcotics transaction using a confidential informant. The informant called Stubbs seeking crack cocaine and the two met at a Stock Island business to conduct the transaction, which was $200 for two grams of crack cocaine. Stubbs was later arrested on a warrant.

On January 5, 2017, Stubbs pleaded no contest and Judge Jones gave him 366 days in prison followed by four years of probation. He since violated that probation by getting arrested for driving with a suspended, failing to report to his probation officer, failing to report for drug testing, failing to attend substance-abuse-prevention meetings and moving from his residence without permission of his probation officer.
